In osteoarthritis (It occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones wears down over time.), the cartilage in the joints breaks down.
Chondroitin sulphate is a sulphated glycosaminoglycan composed of a chain of alternating sugars. It is usually found attached to proteins as part of a proteoglycan.
A chondroitin chain can have over 100 individual sugars, each of which can be sulphated in variable positions and quantities.
It shows clinical benefits in symptomatic osteoarthritis (OA) of the finger, knee, hip joints, low back, facial joints and other diseases due to its anti-inflammatory activity.
